At bloody last. Hadn't sailed since 5th Nov, so wasn't about to go into the office with a forecast of wind. Woke with a dodgy head and stomach from office chrismas party, but was loaded for the trip up to Minster by 9.30. Loads of roadworks, a worsening hangover and the prospect of sailing N.Kent didn't curb my excitement. Got there to find about 10 people out on 5.3's. Looked bloody windy to me, so went for 5m with my Syncro and virtually got slapped off the water by the chop. Switched boards immediately to my wave board and it was just about perfect - occasionally a big gust would come through that wasn't that easy to hang on to, but in the main, just fast and fun. Then the tide turned and it coincided with a slight drop in wind, which meant that it carried you downwind unless you were planing and getting planing was harder because of the speed of current. So switched back to the big board which was ok for a couple of runs, but then called it a day. Pick up again just as I started the car engine, but the air temp had dropped and I'd had a good 3 hour sail in Dec so I wasn't complaining. Amazing how a dirty, flat, and cold venue can be so appreciated when you haven't sailed for a while.
